Game of Thrones fans have spotted yet another beverage-based gaffe, this time in the series finale (AKA the episode the showrunners definitely should have invested in a big wheelie bin for).
‘The Iron Throne’ was always going to be heavily scrutinized, but you didn’t need a fine-tooth comb to see the plastic water bottle tucked behind Samwell Tarly in a particularly pivotal scene towards the end of the episode.
It comes, of course, after the hot drink debacle of episode 4, in which a modern coffee cup was accidentally placed next to Daenerys.
HBO initially laughed off the error, clarifying that the drink was in fact a "herbal tea", but it was ultimately edited out of later versions when their joke was met with relentless, po-faced Twitter fury.
The cast took it in good humor, at least, pointing the finger at each other on late night chat shows—but yet another gaffe is sure to cause embarrassment for showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss. The pair have come under heavy criticism from fans over the past few weeks for the quality of the final season.
So who’s the perpetrator? All signs point to Samwell Tarly actor John Bradley, but there's no way to be sure until the well-hydrated wrongdoer comes forward. The mystery continues.
