But it still had its best ratings ever.

For the sixth year in a row, Game of Thrones was the most pirated show of the year, despite having its highest ratings ever during its seventh season.

TorrentFreak, a website that covers file-sharing and piracy, released its annual list of the most torrented TV shows of the year on December 26. Game of Thrones was affected by various hacks and leaks earlier in its season, including the fourth episode being leaked early by employees of an Indian HBO distributor, which led to their arrests. HBO also suffered a major hack earlier in the year that led to various scripts for shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Ballers being leaked before they aired. Hackers requested an unspecified amount of money for the data.

But that didn't affect the show's ratings. According to the New York Times, the season seven finale ended up breaking records for the HBO show with 12.1 million viewers watching it on television and a total of 16.6 million viewers when HBO Go and HBO Now app views were included.

The Walking Dead followed at number 2, staying in the same spot it was last year. The CW had two shows on the list this year, with The Flash at number 3 and Arrow at number 10. The Big Bang Theory moved up to number four this year and is the only comedy included in the list.

Three new shows were included to this year's list: Rick & Morty, Prison Break, and Sherlock. Each of these shows were numbers five, six, and seven, respectively and were all shows that returned after a two-year or more hiatus. It's not surprising to see Rick & Morty on the list, giving the amount of people who camped outside of their local McDonalds back in October for a chance to get a dipping sauce that came out over 20 years ago. If they'd camp out for dipping sauce, they'd torrent their favorite episodes, too.

History's Vikings went down to number eight after being seventh last year. USA's Suitsalso stayed on the list at number nine. All the shows on the list have been or are expected to be renewed for more seasons, with the exception of Suits, which has yet to be confirmed after it was announced that two of its leads, Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams, will be leaving at the end of season seven.
