Really, there's no reason to compare Game of Thrones to Westworld. They're completely different shows! Though, since they're both big-budget HBO series, inevitably people are going to pit the two against each other. This includes Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, who wrote on his blog this week about the two HBO shows going up against each other at the Golden Globes.

"Being an HBO guy, I'm thrilled that to see that both Game of Thrones and Westworld have been nominated for the big prize," he wrote. "Though Westworld is going to be some tough competition. (In fact, I would figure WW for the favorite)."

Perhaps he's just preparing to be a gracious winner when Game of Thrones beats Westworld, or when they both lose to Stranger Things, which was another show he liked!

"As an science fiction and fantasy geek, I am also delighted to see that Stranger Things made the list," he said. "Three out of five finalists being genre shows... and during this golden age of television... is another sign of just how far we've come."

Thanks for the insight, GRRM, now please put that mental effort toward finishing your damn books.
