Not that anyone asked for one, but there's yet another Sherlock Holmes adaptation in the works, this time starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly of Step Brothers and Talladega Nights fame. Honestly, it might have even been a better idea to do a sequel to either of those films instead of this, but, well, here we are, with the first trailer for Holmes and Watson. Check it out:

Naturally, this is a lighter take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels compared to the popular adaptations starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. Which would be great if it worked out. Sadly, the trailer itself already has a couple of gags that fall flat, which gives the impression that Holmes and Watson would have to pull off something extraordinary to be more than just a throwaway, slapstick feature.

That said, the Ferrell-Reilly tandem will certainly have its audience, and we really can't draw any conclusions until the movie drops. It's slated for release in the States on Christmas day, which means we could potentially see it earlier or after the Metro Manila Film Festival run.
