How Much Did The 'Avengers: Endgame' Actors Earn?

Idly daydreaming about being an actor involved in the Avengers franchise is a fine way to waste an underwhelming afternoon at work, and it always raises the same questions.

Would it be a laugh if it was your job? Would lovely Mark Ruffalo be your mate? And would you be able to Scrooge McDuck-dive into the many, many millions of quid that you'd make off the whole enterprise?

Well, now we know. The Hollywood Reporter has spoken to sources who know what they're on about and it turns out that if you're in a franchise which has become the kind of financial juggernaut that outpaces entire countries' GDPs in its opening weekend, you can ask for absolutely loads of money.

As you might expect for the guy who got in at the ground floor with Iron Man in 2008, Robert Downey Jr is reportedly on the fattest wedgehis deal doesn't just include up-front payments for his appearances, but also what's known as 'backend', which gets him a cut of the gross box office as well as his salary.

Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that Downey Jr made about $75 million from Infinity War, which grossed $2 billion worldwide, and with Endgame looking like it'll eclipse that sum fairly easily, he's likely in line for an even bigger payday. Plus, he picked up about $5m a day while shooting Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans both wangled themselves between $15m and $20m when they renegotiated their deals ahead of Infinity War and Endgame, which is fairly tidy, and Scarlett Johansson is on for $20m for her Black Widow solo film in 2020, which she's producing as well as starring in.

So, if you put all that into fivers and pound coins, you'd probably have enough to Scrooge McDuck it quite satisfyingly in a room the size of a standard single-berth garage.
