Is Wonder Woman 3 Dead?

The DC Extended Universe is in an uproar once more. With all the changes at DC Studios, Warner Bros., and Warner Bros Discovery, the future of the DCEU has been uncertain. The bigwigs are making massive overhauls to recharge the DCEU, such as canceling the Batgirl TV series and reintroducing Superman in Black Adam. But the latest change might just be its biggest one yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wonder Woman 3 is dead.
Apparently, the third installment is “not moving and is considered dead in its current incarnation.” According to the report, Director Patty Jenkins had just submitted her treatment to the heads of DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures when the studio heads informed her that the project didn’t fit the long-term plans of DC Studios.

DC Studios, which just launched in November, is led by James Gunn (The Suicide Squad director) and Peter Safran (longtime DC producer). With the recent rebirth of DC Studios (formerly DC Films), the studio heads are still preparing their 10-year plan for the DC Extended Universe, which will be presented to the new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. And based on The Hollywood Reporter exclusive, Wonder Woman 3 is not a part of the plan.
Curiously enough, Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot posted this Tweet the day before the explosive report. Although the actress hinted at a “next chapter,” it’s hard to not read this as a subtle farewell to DC’s most iconic female superhero.
With the future of Wonder Woman all but dead, the fate of other Justice League heroes is just as uncertain, according to the report. But we’ll find out soon enough when DC Studios settles its 10-year plan with the heads of Warner Bros. and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Fingers crossed we won’t lose another superhero.
