John Lloyd Cruz Explains Why He Needed a Break from Showbiz
John Lloyd Cruz says he took a much needed break in 2017 so that he could pause and ponder on his life.
He made the comments to Boy Abunda on the latter's Best Talk show.
In 2017, Cruz surprised the industry when he abruptly decided to take indefinite leave from ABS-CBN and Star Magic. He had been working on the sitcom Home Sweet Home, and was under contract with ABS-CBN and its film arm, Star Cinema.
At that time, Cruz’s relationship with Ellen Adarna was the talk of the town, and before the end of 2017, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) reported Adarna was pregnant and that Cruz was the baby’s father. Cruz stayed in Cebu with the actress while she was pregnant, till she gave birth to their son, Elias Modesto in June 2018.
In August 2019, it was announced that Cruz and Adarna had separated, and that the actress was in another relationship.
Cruz, on the other hand, once again became slightly more visible again in showbiz, but not completely.
“Kailangan nang medyo dumistansya,” he explained. Something like that."
Life is short, the actor said.
“At one point, you realize, sobrang iksi pala ng buhay.
Cruz said there were so many “what ifs” in his life he wanted to answer, and more.
