On this Earth, Kevin Feige is the omniscient, omnipotent Watcher moving the chess pieces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—and he hasn’t failed us yet. After the epic finale of the MCU’s Phase Three, Phase Four has had the difficult task of starting from scratch. The big bad guys have been beaten, leaving room for more villains and characters to set a new grand plan into motion. But just a few months (and shows) into Phase Four, and we’re still not quite sure about the overarching conflict that will tie the shows and movies together.

We’re sitting on a mountain of breadcrumbs with little direction on where this all leads, but don’t worry—it’s apparently what Kevin Feige intended all along.

In an interview with Total Film, the grandmaster of the MCU shared that we will all be getting answers to our burning questions sooner than we think.

"As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going," said Feige.

"I think there have been many clues already, that are at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap."

So far, Disney has released the following shows and movies in Phase Four: Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Miss Marvel.

That’s 12 shows and movies in total, and we’re only halfway through Phase 4. And yet, the big picture is yet to be seen. Or rather, there are too many big pictures at play that fans can hardly know where to focus. Eternals hinted at a greater war with the Celestials, Doctor Strange 2 ended with Strange going into the Dark Dimension, everyone has apparently forgotten Spider-Man, and Kang the Conqueror might just be playing a part in all of this if Loki is to be believed. Feige has handed us the puzzle pieces, but it might be a while before he shows his hand.

Phase Four of the MCU will be releasing the following shows and movies within the next two years: Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Fantastic Four, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, and even. Clearly, we’re in it for the long haul, and it might be years before we have another epic Endgame culmination.

Once Phase Four is complete, Phase Five will likely include Blade, a Deadpool film, a Captain America sequel, a Shang-Chi sequel, and perhaps even the revival of X-Men.
