Kid Cudi's Netflix Series Entergalactic Will Be a Trippy, Star-Studded Delight

The Man on the Moon will grace our earthly senses with a new Netflix animated series.

The great Kid Cudi is taking the idea of a visual album to the next level with Entergalactic, an animated Netflix series set to be released on the same day as his tenth studio LP of the same name. The artist has spent his career making out-of-this-world music on influential albums like Indicud and the Man on the Moon trilogy, but now, Cudi will take his talents to voice acting.

Set in bustling New York City, Entergalactic will feature Cudi as an up-and-coming artist named Jabari. And while plot details remain largely sealed, we know his character will spend his time juggling a potential romantic connection with his photographer neighbor, Meadow (Jessica Williams), and an opportunity for real success in the industry. The series features an impressive supporting cast, including Timothée Chalamet as Jimmy, Jabari’s weed dealer, as well as Ty Dolla $ign as Ky, Jabari’s off-the-wall buddy. Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, Keith David, Teyana Taylor, Arturo Castro, and Macaulay Culkin will also appear in undisclosed voice roles.

In Esquire's new cover story featuring Cudi, the man himself revealed that the show is intended to be his statement as both a producer and a creator. For Entergalactic, Cudi teamed up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, who serves as executive producer. She was even the one who convinced Cudi to turn his initial idea for a series of vignettes into an animated show. The late Off-White designer Virgil Abloh also designed some of the outfits his characters wear. "Love is the answer. It is gonna hurt you at times, but it’ll heal you, too," Cudi said about his inspiration for the album and its accompanying Netflix series. "It’s one hell of a ride when you’re in it with someone, especially what they’re experiencing in Entergalactic... It’s fucking magic."

Entergalactic drops on September 30, along with Cudi's animated Netflix series featuring songs from the album. Check out the trailer below.
