Together, they've made a total of five films, and one could easily argue that each and every one of them is good: The Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Shutter Island, The Departed, and The Wolf of Wall Street. Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, both masters of their craft, are an actor-director tandem with an incredible track record. Now, they're looking to add a sixth to that line-up, with an adaptation of the New York Times bestseller, Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.

Variety reports that Imperative Entertainment, which acquired movie rights to the book in 2016, has attached both Scorsese and DiCaprio to the project.

Killers of the Flower Moon is a nonfiction book by American journalist David Grann, who also wrote The Lost City of ZKillers of the Flower Moon investigates a series of murders in the 1920s, of members of a Native American tribe in Oklahoma. Because of the oil deposits beneath their land, the Osage nation were then the wealthiest people per capita in the world, until they were picked off and killed one by one. The official death toll was 24, but in his book, Grann suspects that hundreds more may have been killed. The book tells a story of racism, and according to the Rolling Stone, "a tale of murder, betrayal, heroism and a nation's struggle to leave its frontier culture behind and enter the modern world."

It seems to be a tale that deserves the caliber of Scorsese and DiCaprio, whose biopics The Aviator and The Wolf of Wall Street were excellent adaptations of true-to-life stories.

Not much else has been revealed about the duo's new project, except that production is slated to start next year. This means we may not see the movie for a very long time, but it's definitely something to look forward to.
