The People Have Spoken: Loki Is the Ultimate Marvel Villain

We’ve all seen some sort of incarnation of pure evil, justified evil, or even good-turned-evil in films—and they’re all as unimpressive as the last. Villains define superhero movies, and it’s Loki iteration of chaotic evil that won him the title of Ultimate Marvel Villain.
Rotten Tomatoes decided to finally settle the debate as to who is the best Marvel villain of all time with a people’s choice, bracket-style competition that included all the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Disney’s Marvel Studios, the X-Men movies from 20th Century Fox, and the Spider-Man movies from Sony.
And out of almost 60 Marvel supervillains, Loki was deemed the worthy holder of the best villain crown, beating out the Big Bad of the multiverse: Thanos. While Loki was never quite mad enough to try to destroy half the universe/multiverse, his diabolical plans and iconic irreverence make him the most fun villain we’ve ever had the pleasure of watching.
According to the voters of this Rotten Tomatoes competition, the Marvel characters that made it to the top eight: Loki, Thanos, Magneto (played by Michael Fassbender), Magneto (played by Ian McKellen), Mystique, Hela, Winter Soldier, and of course, Killmonger.

Thankfully, Marvel decided that killing off Loki was a huge fan disservice, and brought back the ultimate villain/anti-hero in the latest Disney+ show Loki.
