The First Reactions to Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Are Here
We’re just over a week away until Amazon’s billion-dollar delivery. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, to use its full, very long name, is the studio’s big-budget attempt to create its own beloved fantasy franchise (and a rival to HBO's Game of Thrones' prequel House of the Dragon).
Basing it on beloved, if expensive, IP is a good bet. While many will be familiar with characters like Galadriel (played here by Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) from Peter Jackson’s critically-acclaimed films, Rings of Power takes things back a couple thousand years to the Second Age of Middle-earth.
Inevitably, there have been controversies – including but not limited to the accuracy of Galadriel’s armor, elvish hairstyles and the diversity of the cast – but now we finally have some concrete reactions to the show itself. Those lucky enough to preview the first two episodes have come out in favor of the show's visuals (expensive-looking!) though questioned its pace at times. But there seems to plenty of detailed world-building which, as the series has been commissioned for five seasons, is a good thing.
You can check out the first reactions below, and watch the first episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime on 2 September (you can even do it for free if you follow our step-by-step guide).
