Historical films have taken over the box office of late, and we're not complaining. The latest tells the story of General Miguel Malvar, with Manny Pacquiao in the titular role. The film recently dropped its poster, offering a first look into the boxing champ's movie comeback.

In the poster, Pacquiao definitely looks every bit the politician (complete with a full beard and a rayadillo-style uniform). The film will be directed by Jose "Kaka" Balagtas with a screenplay by Ed Samson.

The movie was officially launched in Batangas on September 27. But since Pacquiao had a prior commitment in Dubai, the producers decided to invite Manny Paksiw, Pacquiao's stunt double and look-alike, instead.

The film tells the story of General Miguel Malvar, the last Filipino general to surrender to the Americans. While not much has been revealed about the movie, it is purportedly the biggest film produced in the history of Philippine cinema. One thing's for sure, people are interested to see how Pacquiao will portay the challenging role of Malvar, a farmer, trader, politician, and revolutionary.
