A New Drug Empire Rises in the First Trailer for 'Narcos: Mexico'
Few of Netflix's upcoming releases are as hotly anticipated as the next installment of Narcos. Now, just over a year after the series' third season premiered on the streaming platform, we're getting a good glimpse at Narcos: Mexico. The first trailer has just been released, and it opens with a very serious Michael Peña, strapped to a chair. What ensues is the introduction of the Guadalajara Cartel, lead by Diego Luna as Félix Gallardo. Check it out:
This new installment of Narcos will explore the origins of the modern drug war by going back to its roots: a time when the Mexican trafficking world was a loose and disorganized confederation of independent growers and dealers. Narcos: Mexico follows the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s, as Gallardo takes the helm by unifying traffickers to build an empire. He'll be faced by Kiki Camarena (Peña), a DEA agent who becomes entangled with the cartel (and, as history tells us, will eventually pay for it with his life).
Along with this new trailer comes the confirmation of a drop date: Narcos: Mexico hits Netflix on November 16.
