More than a year after the release of the second season of Stranger Things, Netflix announces that the official return of the beloved sci-fi web television series will be on July 4, 2019.

In a one-minute teaser video released by Netflix Philippines on YouTube, the American Internet entertainment service reveals that the third season of Stranger Things will be set in summer 1985.

The clip itself is set on New Year’s Eve 1984, appropriately themed as it was released on December 31, Philippine time. The teaser opens with a footage of the iconic television program Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve during the countdown to 1985. However, as the clock nears midnight, the screen then slowly starts to flip upside down, just as the ball drops in Times Square.

The announcement trailer does not contain new scenes from the third season nor shows any of the main characters, but it provides some sort of reinforcement to what Netflix announced in teasers from last year.

Netflix revealed in July 2018 that the small town of Hawkins, Indiana is getting a new mall that “has it all.” In the teaser, it is noted that the New Year’s Eve broadcast was sponsored by the Starcourt Mall.

What the teaser does explicitly offer, however, are new clues as to what the kids will encounter in the new season. Cuts of a series of codes from what looked like an old-school computer screen shows the phrases, “WHEN BLUE AND YELLOW MEET IN THE WEST” and “SilverCatFeeds.exe.”

Whatever these mean, Stranger Things fans only have about six months left to find out.

Stranger Things 3 premieres on Netflix on July 4, 2019.
