The Rings of Power: Breaking Down the Latest Teaser of the Lord of the Rings Spin-Off

The latest teaser of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is here, but not everyone can view it. As part of Amazon’s push to boost its Prime audience, even the trailer of The Rings of Power can only be viewed on Amazon Prime. But don’t worry—for the readers who aren’t Prime subscribers yet, we’ve made a brief breakdown of what we saw in the second official teaser of the highly-anticipated eight-episode LOTR spin-off.
The Rings of Power takes place in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It will follow the creation of the Rings of Power, the rise of Sauron, the fall of Numenor, and the last alliance between Elves and Men. Almost all the LOTR films hinted at the grand battles and events of the Second Age, so now, we’ll finally get to see it for ourselves.
Here’s what happened in the latest teaser of The Rings of Power.
Sadoc Burrows, a harfoot (the ancestors of hobbits), starts the teaser with a dark foreboding: “The skies are strange.”

High King Gil-galad looks on as a dark omen crosses the skies, threatening to unravel the peace he’s fought for in Middle-earth.

Aboard a boat, Galadriel and her fellow elves also witness the falling star.

Prince Durin IV, a legendary dwarf in Tolkien history, appears to receive dire news.

Elrond also watches the comet fly by. It is Elrond’s late brother’s kingdom Numenor that we will see fall this season.

Arondir and Bronwyn watch the falling star, an omen of the forbidden love between the elf and human.

The Ents rise!

Tar Miriel, the heir to Numenor, watches as the sky rains ashes.
