The HBO prequel series to Game of Thrones has officially started production. House of the Dragon, GOT's highly anticipated spin-off, will introduce viewers to one of the bloodiest eras in Targaryen history, with the promise of battles, dragons, and more.

Just a few hours ago, HBO's House of the Dragon finally opened its Twitter account, blessing GOT fans' feeds with the very first look of the show's production. The first BTS shots show the main cast going through a (socially distanced) table read.

The following actors and actresses behind the two fighting factions of the Targaryen civil war were in attendance:

What will the show be about?

GOT's prequel series will follow the events of the Targaryen civil war, otherwise known as the Dance of Dragons. Expect a lot of scheming, betrayal, dragon battles, and bloody deaths. It will be based on Fire & Blood, the Targaryen-focused lexicon by George R.R. Martin.
