For all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's wins, and wins, and wins—you might say that all it does is win—it has created one pretty major problem in the superhero game: all anyone cares about nowadays is the multiverse.

Ever since Loki introduced the possibility of just about any Marvel-branded hero crossing over into another, previously-unrelated Marvel-branded show, fans are a little crazed with the curiosity over who is showing up where. They're no longer interested in just enjoying the stories Marvel has been telling. So now, we have Venom: Let There Be Carnage coming out this October. And even though it's not technically an MCU jam—this is a Sony vehicle—interviewers are asking Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock/Venom, about the future of his franchise. Obviously, you know, with the not-so-hidden agenda of trying to get him to say if or when he'll face off against Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

"There’s a Venom-Verse, you know, there’s a Spider-Verse, there’s multiverses, there’s all kinds of canon and lore and mythology to explore both laterally and forward in time," Hardy told ET Canada. "I think with the right people and the right planning, and feedback from the audience, and understanding it’s about making the right choices at the right time... Even with foresight of understanding where things may go already or they wish to go, it’s a combination of all those in the alchemy of what it will be."

First of all, keep in mind that Sony (to save you all the business-speak) is essentially sharing Spider-Man with the MCU right now. So it's hard to imagine that the studio won't reel Holland into its "Venom-Verse," or even catapult Venom into the MCU for a quick cameo before Venom 3. Second: Tom Hardy. C'mon. That seems like a lot of words to code to fans that the "right people" are up to coordinating some multiverse-related shenanigans between Spidey and Venom. Hey, maybe we'll even see Hardy show up in No Way Home. Nothing's off the table anymore, is it?
