Mad props to ASEAN, yo.

The year 2017 is an important year for ASEAN, especially for the Philippines. It marks the 50th birthday of the association, as well as its 30th summit. Holding the chairmanship, the Philippine Government naturally sought to commission an important artist to capture in song its mission and implore Filipinos to support ASEAN. The result of such commitment: ‘ASEAN Na Tayo’ by rapper Shernan. Yaaaaas.

This positively lit video, produced by Radio Television Malacañang, lays out to the uninitiated what ASEAN does. We recommend watching Shernan’s video in its entirety, which includes him rapping about the benefits of ASEAN (fame as a rapper), why we should unite around it, and how his girl got jealous in Singapore. Best to watch it here now, since the video has been taken down from the RTVM's official Youtube channel after complaints by concerned netizens.

Here are the complete lyrics, in case you want to rap along. (You know you want to.)

Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran pinahalagahan

Upang mapabuti buhay ng mamamayan

Ito ang ASEAN, sampung bansa ang nagkasundo

Pandinig mo’y iyong buksan at ako’y pakinggan mo

Pilipinas, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Brunei, at meron pang iba

Myanmar, Vietnam, pati din Indonesia

syempre kasama din dyan ang Cambodia

Nagkakaunawaan, walang hidwaan

let’s sing

ASEAN na tayo (ASEAN!)

ASEAN na tayo (ASEAN!)

ASEAN na tayo (oh oh!)
