In the second episode of the Esquire Sessions Live podcast, where we record our favorite conversations with local musicians, we talked to 23-year-old singer and songwriter Inigo Pascual, who opened up about his sophomore album Options, growing up in the U.S., and his unforgettable experience performing at the Staples Center in L.A.
The son of prominent Filipino actor Piolo Pascual, Inigo was exposed to show business at an early age, so it’s no surprise he followed in his father’s footsteps. But while he grew up in the States, Inigo shares how he’s always loved OPM and how his big move back to the homeland only increased his appreciation for local music and artists.
“I saw how passionate each artist is in their craft and how they can do so much with so little. I mean, comparing it to like, where I came from in the States,” shared Inigo.
“What we have over here, we have talent, and we have passion, and that’s something that I am super proud—something that I want the world to see, that we’re not just known as good singers here in the Philippines. We can also make beautiful music with our talents. There’s so many young producers now too.”
And his album is proof of the untapped talent of Filipino musicians, songwriters, and producers.
