The Itchyworms have written a bunch of extremely catchy tunes throughout their career. See: “Beer,” “Akin Ka Na Lang,” “Gusto Ko Lamang Sa Buhay,” “Ayokong Tumanda,” and more. But perhaps none can inspire instant sing-along sessions as much as “Penge Naman Ako Nyan.” The first single off of the band’s third studio album Self-Titled has LSS (last song syndrome) written all over it, but how exactly did they come up with it? What did their previous song “Beer” have to do with it? And what’s the story behind its Quark Henares-directed music video that’s become something of a classic?
