James Reid Set to Join Other Asian Artists in Major Livestream Music Event for COVID-19 Relief
Actor and singer James Reid is set to represent the Philippines and join dozens of other Asian artists from around the world in a major livestream music event on May 30.
Streaming live on Amazon Music’s Twitch Channel, Our Identity: ProjectBlue Marble is not only a global fundraising effort in the fight against COVID-19, but also a way to combat xenophobia affecting Asian communities.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the United Way, a US-based nonprofit that supports a coalition of charitable organizations in fundraising, in its efforts to support those impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak “by providing protective gear, food, disinfection, sanitization, and financial support in certain areas.”
The full artists include: Agnez Mo, AlexTBH, Ballistik Boyz, Cehryl, Colde, DaBoyWay, DJ Zo, Dumbfoundead, Flowsik, H1ghr Music (Jay Park, Sik-K, pH-1, Golden, Woodie Gochild, DJ SMMT), Hyolyn, James Reid, Joe Flizzow, Julia Wu, Kevin Oh, Lyrics Born, m-Flo, Maliibu Miitch, Mei, Milck, Miso, Miyavi, Msftz, Nisha, Ozi, Phum Viphurit, P-Lo, Raiden, Raisa & Dipha Barus, Raja Kumari, Satica, Shawn Wasabi, Sokodomo, Suboi, Vaness Wu, Year of the Ox, Yultron, and Yuna.
Also set to make special appearances are Andrew Yang, E-Man, Jeremy Lin, Kelly Hu, Kinjaz, Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, Rei Ami, Ronny Chieng, Rupi Kaur, Sung Kang, and Wong Fu Pro.
The event also celebrates the last weekend of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the US.
Event organizers say they will use the hashtag #OURIDENTITY to promote the idea of “a unified awareness to this movement.”
The livestream will happen on Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m., PDT.
