Many know John Lloyd Cruz by the different characters he has played in rom-coms and feel-good films. Okay, maybe sometimes he makes you cry by giving you the puppy-dog eyes (Popoy, anyone?), but the actor has also forayed into more serious roles like Edgar in the Erik Matti-directed film Honor Thy Father. In 2017, he faced some controversies and took a break from showbiz. If you're wondering what he's been up to around that time, the music video for Sugar Hiccup's song "Saturnine Nevermore" might have some answers. Not only does the black-and-white video features his travels, it also happens to be his directorial debut, going by his childhood nickname, Idan Cruz.

The video's footage is taken from Cruz's travels from September to December 2017 in Europe and the Philippines. He also makes a short appearance towards the end of the video.

Cruz wasn't given a specific direction for the music video nor did he get to meet the band. Instead, he sought to find meaning behind the track through his travels with the dream-pop band's music as his "only guide."

"Saturnine Nevermore" is a single off Sugar Hiccup's fourth and final record, Closure.
