It's finally here. The much-anticipated collision between hopecore flagbearer Porter Robinson's poignant electronic pop and Australian computer-loving artist Ninajirachi's chaotic dance sensibilities, "WannaCry," will be infesting our on-repeat playlist for the foreseeable future.

Robinson, who was Esquire Philippines' June cover star, had torched the crowd with this particular banger during his set at this year's &Friends EDM festival at Okada Manila. We can only imagine a collaborative album with the I Love My Computer star that would entail unfathomably catchy beeps and boops.

"WannaCry," a title lifted straight from the 2017 ransomware cryptoworm that crippled hospitals and shipping lines worldwide, had been teased since Coachella and even at an intimate, cramped set by the two computer sound merchants at Chinese Laundry in Sydney.

Robinson and Ninajirachi inject a lot of their distinct sonic signatures into this certified, chronically online club banger. The recurring scratchy lead synth recalls Robinson's melodic tics from Smile! :D, while Ninajirachi's glitchy computer grace notes thread through the same melodic house chords he used on "Language."

These endearing callbacks to their respective catalogs add up to something intentionally abrasive and lush at once.

If I Love My Computer was a sonic self-portrait and an introduction to who Ninajirachi is (an anime-loving, Y2K-aesthetic-enjoying EDM lady), "WannaCry" is a full-circle tie-up with one of her biggest musical heroes, someone who's built many worlds playing with his computer.
