BTS Eyes The Grammys For Their Next Step in World Domination

Like it or not, awards mean something to a lot of people. Not everyone is Joaquin Phoenix, dissing and un-dissing their industry's highest honor. Take the Grammys: 62 years of dishing out honors to legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé, and U2. And while all of them, you know, didn't need the validation—a room's worth trophies doesn't hurt a legacy.

Cut to BTS, who, despite being the biggest band in the world right now, only has one Grammy nomination so far. And it's for best recording package. Which is still something to be proud of, but can we get these guys an album or record of the year nod? In Esquire's Winter issue cover story featuring BTS, RM admitted that some recognition from the academy wouldn't go unappreciated by the group.

“We would like to be nominated and possibly get an award,” he told Esquire's Dave HolmesNow, aside from its legion of fans, BTS obviously hasn't gone unrecognized for its work in the awards category. BTS won Top Duo/Group in the Billboard Music Awards in 2019 and 2020. Has cleaned up at the Korean Music Awards for three years running now. MTV Video Music Awards, American Music Awards, on and on.But, yeah—the Grammys? RM said that's the big one.

“I think the Grammys are the last part, like the final part of the whole American journey,” RM added with a smile. “So yeah, we’ll see."
