Apple Is Dropping 200 New Emojis to Be More Inclusive

Much has been said about emojis lately. (Cool emojis and emojis that make you look outdated exist, apparently.) If you think you know all there is to know about emojis, well, guess again because Apple is releasing a new set soon—200 emojis, to be exact.
Thankfully, a lot of the new emojis don't need to be decoded. The team at Apple is focusing on inclusivity instead. The drop includes more skin tones, gender-neutral options, and disability representation.
In fact, Apple worked with the American Council of the Blind, the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, and the National Association of the Deaf to make the inclusive emojis as best as possible.
In true Apple fashion, though, the headphones emoji has been updated to look like the AirPods Max. Naturally. Plus, emojis that have AirPods in their ears exist now. Another big update? The syringe. It's basically been made more vaccine-friendly as the blood has been replaced with blue fluid.
OK, OK... we lied. There are a bunch that probably need to be decoded. Only three new smileys are included in the update: an exhaling face, face with spiral eyes, and a face in clouds. If TikTok is any indication, young people are somehow going to name one of these the cool emoji.
The new emojis are coming as part of iOS 14.5 which is pretty much out, but the final release will be in the coming weeks.
