Facebook Will Cancel You Now. Here's How to Stay Safe
Since its founding in 2004, Facebook has always championed online connectedness and the open sharing of information among its users. But in the last three years, Facebook has purged billions of accounts that violated its rules.
Below is a notification sent by Facebook on September 2 informing users of changes in its Terms of Service that will be rolled out on October 1.

It will not be the first time Facebook will remove posts and accounts. Facebook has deleted numerous posts and pages in the past, around two billion of them, not including the 3.39 billion fake accounts it deleted in 2019.
As recent as June 2020, the tech giant has deleted over 200 accounts linked to hate groups around the world.
What will Facebook purge or what can cause Facebook to delete my account?
Everything you can’t post on Facebook is found in its Community Standards page, and apparently, there’s a lot of things you’re not allowed to post. Here are some of them.
Violence and Criminal Behavior
Facebook will remove content, disable accounts, and work with Philippine National Police if they suspect your account or post has a genuine risk of causing physical harm or direct threats to public safety. This includes the following:
- Terrorist activity
- Organized hate
- Mass murder (including attempts) or multiple murder
- Human trafficking
- Organized violence or criminal activity
Facebook will also ban your account or your post if it is suspected of promoting the trade of illegal or regulated goods, such as endangered animals or plant species, and illegal drugs.
Fraud and Deceit
Your Facebook account could be banned if you post things related to fraud and deceit, which includes the following:
- Solicitation
- False claims especially unapproved medical remedies or treatments
- Fake user reviews
- Networking or pyramid schemes
Content that encourages Suicide or Self-Injury
This includes graphic imagery, real-time depictions, and fictional content that might lead others to commit suicide or self-injury.
Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Nudity
People often share nude images of their own children with good intentions, but Facebook generally removes these images because of the potential for abuse by others.
Sexual Exploitation of Adults
Facebook removes content that displays, advocates for, or coordinates sexual acts with non-consenting parties or commercial sexual services, such as prostitution and escort services.
Bullying and Harassment
In the spirit of liberty and free speech, Facebook distinguishes between public figures and private individuals in discerning online bullying and harassment. Facebook wants to allow discussion, which often includes critical commentary of people who are featured in the news or who have a large public audience.
Hate Speech
Facebook defines hate speech as a direct attack on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, and serious disease or disability.
Insensitive Posts
Facebook will delete your post if this depicts real people laughing at or making fun of serious physical injury, starvation, or serious or fatal disease or disability.
This also includes sadistic remarks, and any visual or written depiction of real people experiencing premature death, serious physical injury, physical violence, or domestic violence.
Animal Cruelty
Never post images or illustrations depicting any animal suffering because of human acts.
