Facebook Just Gave the Messenger App a Bunch of New Features

Facebook has put a lot of focus to Messenger. A few week back the app was integrated into Instagram's messaging feature. Now, a bunch of new features have landed on the app.

What Happens When Facebook's Dating App Asks You to Connect With Someone?

Some updates are big, while others are small. Let's start with the small: the app's icon has been updated to a pink and purple gradient. Then, there are the new customizable chat themes. Other features are much more than physical such as the forward to reply to specific messages, Selfie Stickers, and Vanish Mode.

Selfie Stickers is described as "a unique hybrid of Boomerang, emojis, and selfies." Vanish Mode, on the other hand, is similar to Snapchat's disappearing messages. Aside from the two, another big update is Watch Together which allows you to share videos on-screen during video calls.

"With over a billion users around the world, our mission is to be a universal way to connect and be closer together. That mission has never been more important as people everywhere look to private online spaces to stay connected.," says vice president of Messenger Stan Chudnovsky.

He continues, "Over the past six months, we’ve been busy launching products and features that make it easier and more fun to be with your friends and family when you can’t be together in person, whether that’s popping into a virtual room to catch up, or watching funny videos together. You can even easily connect with many of your favorite small businesses, even if you can’t visit them IRL."
