Garmin Launches First AMOLED Smartwatch with Longest Battery Life
Garmin Philippines has just introduced the Venu, the company's first smartwatch with AMOLED screen.
“[The AMOLED display] will breathe life and color into animated workouts on live watch faces,” said Engelhard Sundoro, Managing Director, South Asia and India.
Venu features some of the newest additions to Garmin’s active lifestyle range of smartwatches, while featuring a more fashion-forward style that’s less sporty and more suited for the office or dressing up.
Garmin Venu Fitness Features
“Garmin really took its time to develop a smartwatch with AMOLED screen, but it did not want to compromise battery life. That’s why the Venu now has the longest battery life among all smartwatches in the market with AMOLED screens,” said Jimmy Chuang, Garmin's product manager, explaining the company's delay in using AMOLED for its watches. According to Chuang, there was no point in using a health-focused sports and lifestyle watch that could only last a day.
On a single charge, the Venu packs an impressive battery life of up to five days in smartwatch mode, and up to six hours in GPS and Music Mode.
It also brings fitness to life with animated and customized workouts. The Venu has over 40 on-device animated workouts for strength training, cardio, yoga, and Pilates. These easy-to-follow programs demonstrate proper form and technique right on the user’s wrist.
The Venu' robust suite of exercise options include preloaded workouts on the watch and preset workouts available to download from Garmin Connect where you can create or customize your activity.
Free Training Plans
Whether training for a 5K or something longer, the Venu is compatible with Garmin Coach, an app where you can get free training plans adapted to your specific running goals and performance, complete with a virtual personal trainer for added motivation.
Garmin Venu Health Features
The Venu has one of the broadest ranges of health-monitoring features available in the market, including advanced sleep with Pulse Ox1, respiration tracking, abnormal heart rate alerts, menstrual cycle tracking, stress tracking, hydration tracking, breathwork activities, and more.
It also has the Innovative Body Battery, which allows the Venu to estimate how much energy your body has left. Energy monitoring lets users check energy levels at any given moment, which can help with scheduling workouts, rest times, and sleep. A higher Body Battery indicates the time is optimal to be active, while a lower number suggests rest is in order.
When it’s time to wind down, advanced sleep monitoring estimates your light, deep and REM stages of sleep. New respiration tracking measures the number of breaths per minute, and Pulse Ox gauges blood oxygen saturation levels.
Together, these data can illustrate your sleep quality. You can review your sleep stats in Garmin Connect to see whether you are getting the quality of sleep you need.
The Venu comes in colors of black with slate hardware, light sand, and granite blue. It retails for P23,595 and will be available in Garmin Brand Stores, department stores, and retail stores nationwide starting on the third week of October.
