A Guy Faked His Presence in Zoom Calls For a Week Using Recorded Videos

These days, everyone is forced to sit in front of a computer screen several hours a day attending Zoom conferences or online huddles. Distance face-to-face learning has also made the computer screen ever more needed. 

But what if you could fake your presence in these video calls? 

That’s exactly what one guy did. 

“I’m gonna try to automate my presence in video calls for one week and see what happens,” said Jesse Orrall, producer at CNET.

According to Orrall, he wanted to see if he could appear as a fully engaged employee without actually being present in any online meeting.

For the stunt, he used an app called Ecamm Live, which allows you to prerecord your videos and program it to play a certain part if the software hears certain keywords. For a whole week, Orrall used his prerecorded videos instead of a live feed.
