You don't have to buy the newest Apple phones just to have a camera with a bokeh effect. Thanks to Instagram's newest update, the Focus mode, you can shoot your subjects like a pro.

IG's newest feature blurs the background while keeping the subject sharp, very much like it was shot using a professional camera or the latest versions of iPhone. It was finally rolled out globally yesterday, on iPhone 6s, 6s+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+, X, and other Android devices. The feature can be found on the app's 'Stories'option, in between Boomerang and Superzoom.

The best part? It can be used using both the selfie and rear-facing cameras.

Here's how you can maximize this new feature:

1| Open the camera and click 'Focus' under the record button

2| Take a selfie or switch to the back-facing camera to find another subject

3| As soon as there's someone in the shot, you'll notice the person stays in focus while the background blurs

4) Tap to take a photo or tap and hold to record a video

5) When you're done, feel free to add filters, stickers, and text to your photo or video

This update is available as part of Instagram version 39.0 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
