Can we live in a world without Instagram likes? Of course. Probably? But, not without some outrage from a bunch of the app's users. That's exactly what happened when Instagram took out the number of likes on one's posts early this week.
Not to worry, though, as it turns out the surprise update was just a bug.
"We've been testing a new experience to hide likes on Feed posts. We unintentionally added more people to the test today, which was a bug—we’re fixing this issue and restoring like counts to those people as soon as possible," Instagram said in a statement.
It continued, "This issue has now been fixed. Pull down to refresh your feed and your likes should restore—thanks for your patience!" Mystery solved. Guess we'll have to wait to see if we can truly live without Instagram likes.
Then again, the last time Instagram had a big, big update (remember that horizontal scroll feed fiasco?), the company said the whole thing was an accident after users went into a frenzy. But, that's just us talking with our tinfoil hats on.
