The latest Internet Accessibility Index is here, and what do you know, the Philippines doesn't have the worst internet access in the world. The study by Broadbandchoices looks at the quality, availability, and cost of internet access in 164 countries in order to determine the fastest and slowest internet connections.

Denmark topped the list for being affordable and fast. The United States and Liechtenstein followed at the second and third spots, respectively. Meanwhile, the Philippines took 64th place which is bad… but not as bad as we thought we would score if we're being honest.

The Philippines improved greatly from the 2021 index, going up several spots from last year's 83rd spot. This year, we improved a lot when it came to download speed but the affordability percentage dragged our score down.

Check out the top 10 countries with the fastest internet connections below.

  1. Denmark
  2. United States
  3. Liechtenstein
  4. United Kingdom
  5. Australia
  6. Ireland
  7. New Zealand
  8. Sweden
  9. Canada
  10. Iceland

"For the second year in a row, our research has highlighted the divide in not just the quality of internet access around the world but also its inclusivity, with a significant number of people being priced out of the market—potentially having huge ramifications on education and employment prospects," said Rob Baillie of Broadbandchoices.

He continued, "Reliable and affordable internet access is key in order to be competitive in an increasingly digital global economy, and with the events of the last two years only speeding up the move towards fully digital and remote industries, developing countries are at risk of being left behind."
