What's So Great About Motorola's Edge 20 Pro?

The last time I had a Motorola was in 2005. The brand had just launched the Motorola Razr, and I was so surprised to receive one as a high school graduation gift. It was the thinnest phone in the market at the time, and I automatically became the coolest kid in class for being one of the first owners of the phone.
More than 17 years later, I got my hands on another Motorola, the Edge 20 Pro. My first impression was how fast this phone is.
As a gamer and editor, I usually take my phone’s capabilities to the limit because it needs to function as a playground and alternative working tool. I install memory-heavy apps such as Mobile Legends, which takes as much as 4 gigabytes out of your storage, on top of the memory it consumes. I also install multiple video editing apps, which also rely on high memory consumption as you run them.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro Performance

The best feature of the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is its speedy performance. I experienced no gaming lag when I play Mobile Legends—I am always the first to finish loading thousands of the game’s resources in matchups. Battles are also very smooth thanks to the phone’s 144Hz refresh rate. I’ve lost so many battles because of in-game lag, but that’s never happened with the Edge 20 Pro.
You can even enhance the screen’s touch sensitivity in-game so battle skills are executed with the slightest touch. The Edge 20 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 870 and 12-gigabyte RAM—that’s like holding a PC or gaming laptop in your hands.
Compared with my older phone that has a Snapdragon 830, you can really feel the difference in speed, screen refresh rate, and frame-per-second when playing graphics-heavy and memory-heavy games.
That powerful memory capacity also means videos in your gallery load in a snap. With my older phone, it takes 30 seconds to load the gallery because of video thumbnails, but with the Motorola Edge 20 Pro, you can have 20 videos and you can view them instantly when you open your gallery.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro Camera

Shooting with the Edge 20 Pro will get you decent photos. Although its main camera boasts 108-megapixel resolution, that’s also available in the Edge 20 model. What’s different with the Pro is the 8K recording, you know, if you want to shoot a full-feature film with a phone.
Battery Life
With great RAM comes great battery life consumption. That’s the rule in many 800-series Snapdragon chipsets. But the Edge 20 Pro seems to be more efficient in conserving its 4,500-mAh battery.
On a full charge, I can play seven to 10 matches on Mobile Legends (an app notorious for battery consumption), depending on your settings. Each match lasts 20 to 30 minutes.
I am satisfied with the phone’s Turbo Charge function, which can juice up your battery from 16 percent to over 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
Motorola Edge 20 Pro Price in the Philippines
Overall, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is a hardworking phone suited for demanding apps. With a pre-order promo of under P30,000, that’s a great bargain. But it will only run from October 21 to October 28, 2021.
