Google Philippines just released a list of its top trending topics typed into the search engine in 2019 by Filipino netizens—and the results are a riot.

For top trending searches for male personalities, actor Gerald Anderson landed between mayor Vico Sotto of Pasig City and mayor Isko Moreno of Manila City. But it was SB19, the up-and-coming Filipino boy group that outranked them all.

Of the most trending leading ladies, three Barrettos (Gretchen, Marjorie, and Julia) made it to the list, thanks to the country’s fascination with their never-ending family drama. But none were a match with our local superwoman, Jane De Leon, who’s set to star as the new Darna.

And hilariously enough, “How to type ñ in laptop” was the third top trending topic in How To. It’s a true Filipino struggle. (PSA: For Windows, it’s Ctrl+Shift+”~”, followed by n. For Mac, it’s Option+”n”, followed by n. Or just copy-paste this: ñ)

As for news, the top three searches include Halalan 2019, LET result March 2019, and earthquake today. And of course, Lotto results today also made the list.

For animal lovers, the top trending searches for dogs were the Bulldog, Golden Retriever, and Pembroke Welsh Corgi, all dethroning the official Filipino family companion: the mighty Shih Tzu.

If Google is to be trusted, it looks like Filipinos are on the side of the Raptors as their games showed up three times on the list of top trending searches for events.

On a sober note, screen legend Eddie Garcia was the most trending search for losses in 2019, followed by K-pop star Sulli and environmental activist Gina Lopez.

The Alden Richards-led film Hello, Love, Goodbye was the only local production to make it on Google’s top trending searches for movies, just after blockbuster Avengers: Endgame.

Maroon 5’s “Memories,” dedicated to the band’s deceased manager, was the top trending topic for songs and lyrics, while Idol Philippines was the top trending search for TV shows.

Meanwhile, the overall top three trending searches for news were: Omegle, MemoryHackers, and Codashop. The first is an anonymous random chat engine, while the latter two are part of the gaming community.

From Google Philippines’ results, it was an eventful 2019. Hopefully, by 2020, Filipinos will finally figure out how to type ñ on their keyboards.
