Apple Doesn't Want You to Touch Screens Ever Again

Apple is looking to add both touchless gesture control and curved screen edges to future iPhone models in order to "help the company differentiate its most-important product in an increasingly crowded market," according to a Bloomberg report.

According to a person familiar with the project, "The control feature would let iPhone users perform some tasks by moving their finger close to the screen without actually tapping it."

Unlike Air Gestures on the Galaxy S4 where users can flick between photos in their camera roll or change tabs on a web browser by swiping the air above the phone, Air View on the iPhone would work more like Apple's 3D Touch feature, allowing control of the phone when your finger hovers over a trigger area.

Another feature the tech behemoth is reportedly working on is a curved edge display (before you ask: yes, Samsung already did it.)

The new features reportedly won't be ready for at least two years, and that's only if Apple ultimately choose to go ahead with it. Still, plenty of time to practise your jedi screen unlocking skills.
