It’s Esquire Philippines’ 10th anniversary, and while we would’ve loved to celebrate with you in person, instead, we present to you this little corner of the internet where mysteries abound and curiosity is encouraged. There’s a little something for everyone here: art, images, reels, and stories. Lots of stories.
Within these “walls,” you’ll discover the stories of some extraordinary people; heroes and mavericks who’ve made life just a bit more bearable in 2021. Click on something that catches your fancy and feed your mind with fascinating, thought-provoking, and ultimately inspiring stories. There are also lists of 10 essentials you need to know about style, automobiles, gadgets, financial tools, and drinks (because we all need one every now and then).
For the first time, we’re also presenting NFT art in partnership with Cryptopop Art Guild (CPAG). Browse through the rooms designed by Esquire’s Art Director Warren Espejo and uncover these treasures from pure, unblemished artists.
It’s a not normal celebration from a group of passionate, slightly irreverent storytellers dedicated to making you stop and wonder about the not normal world we live in today.
Welcome to the Esquire Playhouse.
It’s the third year of our annual Man At His Best (MAHB) party where we celebrate the life and work of inspiring men and women who have made a difference in the past year. Here’s a look at the past two editions of MAHB:
Hidden inside the Esquire Playhouse for you to discover, are artwork produced by members of the Cryptopop Art Guild (CPAG).
CPAG is an online community for underprivileged Filipino artists. The guild combines the play-to-earn economics of Axie Infinity with mentorship from veterans in the art and design industry. Although it focuses on marginalized artists, it is not a charity, and its primary goal is to create sustainable revenue streams for both its artists and its investors.
CPAG is led by Luis Buenaventura, Yield Guild Games (YGG) country manager for the Philippines and one of the world’s first NFT artists (CurioCards, 2017). Its early investors include YGG founder Gabby Dizon, Binance Head of Southeast Asia Colin Goltra, blogger James Deakin, designer AJ Dimarucot, artist Caroline Dy, and design house Team Manila.
Pronounced “see-pag” (as in “sipag”, the Filipino word for “diligence”), the guild emphasizes perseverance and focus, and is a training ground for Filipino artists who want to make their mark on the metaverse.
