From the creators of Don Papa Rum, The Bleeding Heart Rum Company just launched its latest addition to its growing portfolio of rum drinks—the Sevillana Cask Finish. Like other Don Papa Rum products, the new bottle is a proud product of the island of Negros, aka Sugarlandia.

The sweet hints of Seville oranges complement Don Papa’s signature vanilla notes, creating the Sevillana’s distinct smooth, tangy experience.

The new concoction is a blend of five and 15-year-old rums distilled from Negros Island sugar cane molasses. Aged in American ex-bourbon barrels, the rum is then kept in two types of Spanish casks: Oloroso Sherry Casks and Andalusian Vino de Naranja, or the famous orange wine casks of Spain.

It’s in the Spanish Andalusian capital Seville where Sevillana gained its name and inspiration. Aside from its beautiful architecture and rich history, Seville is perhaps best known for its Seville oranges, an agricultural export that once enchanted traders of the Spanish colonies. That brings us to the second inspiration behind the Sevillana: the historic Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade that linked Spain to the Philippines via Mexico and led to the marriage of Spanish and Filipino agriculture and heritage, which would eventually lead to the Sevillana centuries later.

“This very important piece of history has inspired The Bleeding Heart Rum Company to create an orange finish rum that pays homage to the life-style of the rich cultural exchange of the Galleon Trade,” said communications director Monica Llamas.

Established in 2012, The Bleeding Heart Rum Company has been leading the rum market after cementing itself as the local authority on rum after launching Don Papa Rum. Only seven years later, the company has expanded and Don Papa Rum is now available in 26 countries.
