Nespresso and For the Future Philippines Are Working Together to Restore Forests in Zambales

Nespresso has always been committed to sustainability, especially when it comes to agroforestry projects. It makes sense, too, since coffee really can't exist without the ecosystems it relies on. For the holidays, Nespresso is taking it a step further by spreading the word of nurturing communities through a collab with Colombian fashion designer Johanna Ortiz for a new collection.

Inspired by "the beauty and depth of the precious environment coffee is grown in," the Gifts of the Forest collection lets you experience everything from forest fruits down to the luscious canopies of trees with every cup. Each of the limited-edition coffees in the range is a testament to the brand's devotion to nature and sustainability.

It's not all about spreading the word. It's also about taking action. As part of its Gifts of the Forest holiday campaign, Nespresso Philippines is working with For the Future Philippines to restore forests across the Philippines. The coffee company and the youth-led organization are planting 88,000 trees within the affected areas of Zambales.

"Everything we do as a company should be sincere, mindful, and responsible," said Patrick Pesengco, managing director of Novateur Coffee Concepts. "Even in our business, we have to show care for others and the environment because these make up our nourishment and wellbeing. When we collaborate with companies that also share the same values, we are able to come out stronger and more effective in our pursuit for sustainability. This enables us to create positive change that lasts."

The best way to explore the collection, of course, is the limited-edition three-sleeve pack. Priced at P1,350, the selection includes 10 capsules each of Forest Black, a woody and spicy espresso; Forest Fruit Flavour, a flavored espresso that carries juicy berry aromas; and Forest Almond Flavour, which holds a sweet, nutty taste.

"For me, design and nature go hand in hand which is why this collaboration resonated personally," said Ortiz. "When designing the collection, I took the idea of capturing the beauty of the forest throughout every piece, by incorporating rich forest canopies and dark earthy tones within my designs. It’s been an amazing process and partnership which I have deeply enjoyed."
