We've lost another genius: The Big Mac creator has died
The year 2016 has been relentless in the cruel killing off of great men, from David Bowie to Prince, Leonard Cohen to Gene Wilder. But none tug on the clogged-up heart strings quite like the latest inspiring figure to get an unwanted visit from the grim reaper.
Michael "Jim" Delligatti, the man who divined the formula for the doubled up ingredients of beef patties, lettuce, cheese, gherkins, onion, and special sauce in the McDonald's Big Mac has died aged 98. His winning creation came about all the way back in 1967 and he was one of the first franchisees of the fast food chain. McDonalds has described him as a "legendary" person, who "made a lasting impression on our brand."'

Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some create a burger that has changed the meaning of excellent drunk food for people forever. For this we will always be indebted to Jim. So if you're out for a few tonight and wandering past the golden arches on your pilgrimage home, pop in for a Big Mac and think of him as you chew through its layers of delight.
