Burger King Sets Up Horror House Drive-Thru at Its Timog Branch
When Burger King announced they were outfitting their Timog store for a “Scare-Thru” drive-thru, I was immediately transported to a moment from my childhood when I would enjoy the thrills at Fiesta Carnival’s Horror Train—a horror ride with a horrible gorilla chasing after you. There was also that time when Big Bang sa Alabang had the scariest horror house whose haunters didn’t care if you’ve wet your pants for fear.
More than 20 years later, we get a semblance of that ’90s obsession with Halloween as Burger King mounts a three-day thrill at its Timog flagship store.
The BK Scare-Thru at the Timog branch will run from October 29 to 31, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You can experience mischievous spirits, the screeches of the souls returning from the afterlife, and the howls of unknown beasts in the safety of your car.
“We hope to bring back the thrill of Halloween that we all miss through fun tricks at the BK Scare-Thru and a filling deadly delicious treat,” said Joey Dominguez, general manager of Burger King Philippines.
BK has also whipped up a limited-edition burger—the Ghost Whopper. Sandwiched between two ghost-white cheddar cheese buns is a classic flame-grilled beef patty, topped with tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, pickles, and onions. It’s just like any Whopper, but a bit larger.
The Ghost Whopper is only available in 13 BK branches: Times Alabang-Zapote, Malabon C4, Gil Fernando, Alabang Town Center, Macapagal Boulevard, Frontera Verde, E. Rodriguez, Fairview Commonwealth, Kamias Kalayaan, Timog, Welcome Rotonda, Ortigas Roosevelt, and BGC, McKinley Park Residences.
But just like a ghost, the Ghost Whopper is notoriously difficult to score—always sold out and not available on online food delivery services. You only have until October 31 to catch a Ghost, if you want to.
