Jollibee's Peach Mango Pie Gets Much Deserved Love From The Washington Post
Washington Post food critic Tim Carman recently wrote a rave review of the latest Jollibee store in Maryland, U.S.A. and all the praise has us feeling like stage parents cheering on the homegrown fast-food brand as it champions Filipino fast food around the world.
It's no secret that Jollibee Food Corp. is gunning to become of the top five restaurant companies in the world, and its aggressive expansion plan for 2021 is focusing more of its efforts abroad. With a loyal customer base among the homesick Filipino diaspora, it looks like Jollibee's unique dishes are taking care of making fans of everyone else.
"It stands up well to the fast-food competition," said Carman, who raved about Chickenjoy, calling it "so crisp, so juicy, so American."
Jolly Spaghetti, which is a love-it-or-hate-it dish with non-Filipinos who aren't used to its sweetness, even made a "strangely alluring" impression.
But it was what he had to say about Jollibee's secret weapon, the peach mango pie, that got us.
"We wondered if this was the greatest fast-food dessert in existence. We couldn’t think of a better one."
We totally agree. Chickenjoy might have worthy contenders among its competitor brands, but no dessert at any other fast food restaurant can quite live up to Jollibee's peach mango pie.
In other news, Jollibee recently launched an ube cheese pie that has us feeling all sorts of nostalgia. Now we're hungry.
