This Poblacion Bar is the First Web3 Gastropub in the Country

Keepers is the first hybrid concept in Poblacion, championing eclectic Asian fusion food as well as Web3.

Who said you couldn’t blend food with tech? Or a restaurant with Web3? Philippine startups Commonwealth Labs and Kraver’s Canteen are doing both with Keepers, the first and only Web3 gastropub in the country. Located near Poblacion’s popular Don Pedro Street of restaurants, Keepers is the first hybrid concept in Poblacion, championing eclectic Asian fusion food as well as Web3.

The restaurant and bar boasts elevated Asian plates, which were designed by Kraver’s Canteens co-founders Eric Dee and Victor Lim. Perfect for Poblacion’s communal drinking and eating culture, Keepers’ Small Plates offers range from Kimchi Cream Nachos to Foie Gras Crostini.

Their Main menu is just as exciting, most of which are inspired by Korean cuisine favorites. Our favorite so far: the L.A. Galbi with its deliciously marinated Bulgogi short ribs.

Add a side of Kimchi Bone Marrow rice, and you’ll have a full meal to complement Keepers’ themed cocktail options, which include the rum-based BAYC, NFT and Tonic, and bourbon-loving Bitcoin. All of these are courtesy of Lee Watson Marcos Viral, and Jason Soong from Kampai, The Spirits Library, and Gugu Room—some of te most popular bars in Poblacion.

In addition to its food, drinks, and overall vibe, Keepers also brings tech to the table. Built with the intention of becoming an inclusive space, the gastropub is introducing the first digital loyalty card maintained on the blockchain in the Philippines. It's essentially a club anyone can join—and a perk of the club is an NFT that lets owners access all the benefits of the Keepers loyalty program. That includes the typical discounts and freebies, but also access to pop-up dinners, gallery shows, and networking events.

“Think of it as a next-level loyalty program,” explains Gabie Tanjutco, co-founder of Commonwealth Labs. “It’s not just about getting a discount or punch card. Keepers NFT holders are effectively treated like owners where they can participate in community-based decision-making and share in the success of Keepers.”

The Keepers NFT was created by Commonwealth Labs, which was founded by Tanjutco and Joshua Co in partnership with Kaya Founders.

While many people assume Web3 is all about Mark Zuckerberg in the metaverse, Keepers is here to prove it’s more than that. If Web1 and Web2 focused on disseminating information and engaging online, then Web3—in its simplest terms—is all about decentralizing the Internet and allowing anyone to create communities, personalize experiences, and own a piece of the internet. And it doesn’t have to all be online.

Keepers is proof of this as the brick-and-mortar gastropub ties people together with a token, the Keepers NFT. According to Tanjutco, Keepers is essentially the “physical” (physical + digital) bridge between Filipinos and Web3. And it’s located in the heart of Poblacion just a stone's throw away from Sinigang Valley, the Philippines' tech startup hub.

“We are excited to help further build the local startup ecosystem,” says Paulo Campos, managing partner of Kaya Founders. “Commonwealth Labs is positioning Keepers as the hub for Philippine startups and their founders to gather as a community.”

If that wasn’t enough, there’s even more in store at Keepers beside the NFT, Asian fusion, and Web3-inspired cocktails. Customers might also get a chance to enjoy various Kraver’s Canteen dishes in a restaurant setting or participate in organized activities from the Kraver’s Test Studio.

“By launching Kraver’s Makati together with Keepers, we are able to capture the best of both the online and offline market, creating better experiences and reaching more customers,” says Dee.

Keepers is open from Thursdays to Sundays from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. The web3 gastropub and social space is located at 5663 Alfonso Street, Poblacion, Makati City.
