Don't deny that you've never had dreams of propping up your own McDonald's at home a la Richie Rich. While you can probably come up with a burger and make is passable for a Big Mac, settle for frozen grocery fries when a hankering for fried potato batons hit, the effect of the chain's magical chicken nuggets is hard to replicate. Until now, that is. Plus, it gives us comfort knowing exactly what's in the recipe.

Standard batter

Ingredients

  • 20 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 25 tbsp water, cold
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • Mix flour and baking soda together. Add water.
  • Whisk well until lump free. Chill before using.

Tip: You can add salt to your batter but only right before using so your mixture doesn't become too runny.

Chicken nuggets

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo chicken breast (minced)
  • 1 small egg yolk (optional)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose cream
  • 2 tsp salt, iodized
  • 1 tsp white pepper, ground
  • 1 tsp sugar, white

Instructions

  • Mix together egg yolk, cream, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  • Combine the mixture with the chicken, working it thoroughly for at least five minutes until a paste-like quality is reached.
  • Mold to desired shape (around 30 grams each piece), then chill until it sets. Freeze if it won't be cooked immediately.
  • Heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Dip each nugget into the batter and deep fry until golden.

Tips: You can use a food processor to mince your chicken if you want a smoother consistency. Stocking up on food? The nuggets can be pre-cooked by frying at a lower temperature like 250 degrees Fahrenheit for a few minutes. Set them aside to cool then freeze. Deep fry them again in medium heat a craving hits.
