This Filipino BBQ Spot in Texas Became an Overnight Sensation Thanks to One YouTube Video

They've even completed the Pinoy experience with a karaoke stage.

For OFWs and Filipino immigrants abroad, there’s nothing like the taste of home. But regardless of where you are, whether in the motherland or the States, it’s not always easy to get your hands on good lechon. Thanks to one YouTube video by food vlogger Mikey Chen, Texas residents have learned all about the secret Filipino BBQ and lechon stall that’s giving Texans a fine taste of the Philippines.

Old Rooster Creek Filipino/Asian American BBQ, or ORC BBQ for short, went from a simple weekends-only stall to an overnight sensation that’s now drawing big crowds, according to the Dallas Morning News. What was once a simple mom-and-pop shop in Texas is now selling out its sweet BBQ, lechon, and other Filipino menu items in just a handful of hours.

Located in Princeton, Texas, ORC BBQ was founded by Josephine and Allen Cook in 2017 after an acquaintance was so impressed by their Filipino potluck, that they were encouraged to open their own shop. The outdoor food stall opens only on the weekends as the owners have their day jobs. On Friday nights, they slow-roast the pigs into lechon, to be sold on Saturday mornings.

ORC BBQ sells every Filipino comfort food you can think of, from sweet BBQ skewers, pancit, lumpia, and sisig to dinuguan, tapsilog, isaw, and tocino. The quaint shack even has its own karaoke stage, because no Filipino BBQ spot would be complete without it. Nothing like eating Filipino BBQ and lechon with Gary Valenciano blasting in the background.

If you know any OFWs or Fil-Ams in the area, tag them in the comments below. You can even order an entire lechon for parties in advance. Just give the Cooks a call.
