Antonio's, Toyo, and Gallery Among Asia's Best Restaurants of 2022

Three Philippine restaurants are among Asia's best.

The Philippines continues to hold its own in the prestigious Asia’s Best Restaurants list of 2022. Once again, Antonio’s Tagaytay, Gallery by Chele, and Toyo Eatery are among the 100 best restaurants in all of Asia.

Toyo Eatery landed in 94th place, Antonio’s Tagaytay landed in 74th place, Gallery by Chele tied for 69th place with India’s Comorin restaurant.

Located along Chino Roces in Makati, Toyo Eatery reinvents traditional dishes while still championing Filipino cuisine. Meanwhile, Gallery by Chele in Bonifacio Global City pays homage to Chef Chele Gonzalez’s Spanish heritage and Chef Carlos Villaflor’s Filipino heritage. And all the way in Cavite, Chef Tonyboy Escalante’s award-winning restaurant Antonio’s Tagaytay is among the most sought-after destinations for diners seeking to escape the metro.

The three restaurants are bastions of the Philippine culinary scene and frequently rank among top restaurant lists in the region.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants typically lists only the top 50 in the region, but in the last two years, Asia’s Best Restaurants Academy has released a list of restaurants that rank from 51 to 100th place. In an effort to be more inclusive and to boost the morale of the pandemic-affected F&B sector, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list releases the 51-100 rankings one week before the official launch of the 1-50 rankings, which will take place on March 29 this year.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants is sponsored S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna and is judged by roughly 300 food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary experts.
