Forget Your Card. Use Your Phone to Pay at Starbucks

At some point, many years ago, someone in the big Starbucks thinktank thought about eliminating the hassle of paying for your coffee. Forget thumbing through bills and rifling over coins and worrying about change. There was a magic card, a special debit card that would make getting your Frappuccino a faster and much more rewarding experience.

And then one day, that same thinktank realized: that why bother with a card? Starbucks Philippines has come out with their very own app that gives its users the same perksplus a bit moreas the My Starbucks Rewards card.

"[The Starbucks PH App] is the latest Starbucks innovation which aims to provide an enhanced experience and meet customers' need in the digital space, while continuing to provide an exceptional experience in our stores," said Keith Cole, Starbucks Philippines' head of marketing.

To pay for drinks, there's "Shake to Pay" feature that generates a barcode that can be scanned to pay and redeem. The app will also give users first dibs to Starbucks news, offers, and events, which they can extend to their friends.

The Starbucks PH App also consolidates all of the user's Starbucks Rewards points into one efficient venue and makes it easier to deactivate a lost card. If you're keeping track of your coffee consumption and/or expenses, you can view your past transactions and balance in real time. If you're looking for a caffeine fix, the app can also guide you to the nearest available Starbucks.

The Starbucks PH App is currently available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
