It’s the stuff of urban legend, but connoisseurs really do have their motel food favorites. After all, one need fuel to keep the fires burning, right? This is why Victoria Court has positioned itself to offer not only hotel-quality rooms to help couples have a few hours of private intimacy, it has also made sure that it offers good food choices to fill that energy gap.  “Food & Beverage is a significant part of our guest experience, aside from privacy and the out-of-this world thematic rooms, we also want to provide an excellent holistic experience to our guests,” says Victoria Court Marketing Manager Anika Gaba.

According to Gaba, it's the Filipino dishes that their guests love. “To be specific, our top five would be our Legendary Crispy Pata, Beef Bulalo, Pancit Canton, Pork Sisig, and Lumpiang Shanghai. We listen to what our guests want, what they are looking for, and their suggestions. From there, we develop new dishes to add to our menu. Last year, we started to offer some Chinese offerings, as we have observed that we are receiving more Chinese guests. Our focus is always to be guest-centric.”

She reveals that the menu is a product of 50 years of refinement. “It keeps getting better based on the suggestions of our guests. It all started from just serving sandwiches to now serving a full meal from starters, main dishes, desserts, non-alcoholic beverages, and alcoholic beverages. "Motel Food", by the way, is a real term in their industry. “It somehow denotes that motels have a particular way of cooking,” she says.

Well, their way of cooking just happens to be award-winning. “We have participated in food competitions in Metro Manila. We won, and those award-winning dishes were made available on our menu at the time. We do not just serve good motel food, but we can compete in the food industry nationwide. That made us decide to expand the Food & Beverage Business in 2019. We want to provide to those who wish to try our food. Have them enjoy it with their friends and families on any occasion anywhere.”

Satisfying cravings

As their different branches (and the guests) get busy his Valentine’s season, some couples may prefer to stay at home and avoid traffic and those long waiting times. This does not necessarily mean that they have to miss out on that invigorating ‘post-workout’ meal from Victoria Court’s in-room menu. Gaba says, “We are offering our dishes on popular delivery platforms such as GrabFood, LalaFood, and Food Panda. This is actually our answer to our guests who often ask if we do delivery.”

Most of the food items we have on the delivery menu are Filipino comfort food and some all-time favorite international dishes. While food for the in-house menu isunderstandablygood for two persons, they also have party trays where each order is suitable for 8 to 10 persons.

Cinderella dreams

Of course, if you are craving something else, it is time to head out with your SO to their themed rooms. One way to guarantee excitement is to offer something out of the ordinary, and that is where Victoria Court’s themed rooms come in. According to Gaba, the most requested rooms are Cirque, Oval Office, and the Bachelors’ Pad, especially for Parties.

They have also proven that a lot of ladies really do like getting swept off their feet. “We recently launched our Ever After room inspired by Cinderella, and it is most of the time occupied even on a weekday.”

It’s about letting the imagination run wild, she suggests. “The MRT is frequently being talked about on every media channel we know and mostly negative. So the team came up with an MRT themed room that guests would have a different experience compared to what’s usually being reported on the news. If you are living in a perfect world, what would it be like to be in an MRT? Your limit is your imagination.”

Attitudes towards the “biglang-liko” have changed, she says. “We have found that our guests are more open about their check-in experience. They like to brag about it on social media. They even want to tell people that they are going to Victoria Court for the weekend or some quality time with their partner. We feel that it is different per generation. If you are below 30, you are more open. Gen X though, is more reserved.”

Speaking of reserved, she suggests availing of their exclusive Valentine’s promos for couples. “In Victoria Court, guests could have dinner on a Gondola in our Venice Room. How many times can you tell someone that you brought your date to the Oval Office or maybe have dinner and stayed the night in the elephant room from the movie Moulin Rouge? Those are experiences that you could only do in Victoria Court with just a call or message away from our reservations specialists.”
