And alcohol is allowed.

After hosting the magical event in 2016, Patronus Events thought that now would be a great time to bring back the Yule Ball. That’s right, Potterheads, it’s time to put on your dress robes and dancing shoes to eat, drink, and party in true Harry Potter style. Expect live music by a real string quartet, a gorgeous location at La Castellana in Intramuros, and one magical night.

The house elves gave us a sneak peek of the night’s menu, provided by Plato and Privatus Dining. We tasted everything Privatus executive chef Antonio Jose Reyes served, and also drank the bewitching beverages Privatus master bartender and mixologist Mark Anthony Marquez made.

English food may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we think these magical dishes are well worth the entrance ticket to the Harry Potter event of the year.

Cauldron Soup

Guests were encouraged to brew their own potions over a batch of Cauldron Soup (a lovely, warm onion soup). An array of potion ingredients were laid out for us to mix into our own concoction. We recommend the powedered bicorn horn! Yum.

Molly’s Magical Meat Pie

What’s an English spread without a good meat pie? Decorated with lovely latticework and buttery pastry, this heavy pie filled us with a hearty filling of ox tail, baxon, and other mystery ingredients. It was better than anything we’d ever had at an English pub!

Roasted Diricawl with Stuffing

If the meat pie doesn’t seem all that appealing, we highly recommend the Roasted Diricawl. This rare bird was roasted to moist perfection and flavored with red wine au jus that we slathered on our mystical bread.

Hogwarts Christmas Ham

Ah, but what’s an English Christmas spread without a huge serving of ham? The star of the Yule Ball table is this huge serving of ham, gently cooked with molasses, making the pork soft and perfectly sweet. Pair with Hagrid’s Grilled Vegetables for an even fuller meal.

Butterbeer

Not your mum’s butterbeer, more like. The Yule Ball’s take on this classic pub drink is a sweet, heady concoction that goes straight to your stomach. The best thing to pour down after a taste of the special Hogwarts House Cupcakes.
