Meet LEMON-DOU, a Japanese chu-hi—or lemon-flavored alcoholic drink. It was first released in Japan in 2018—and it takes inspiration from their drinking culture. Now what sets it apart is how it's made: It makes use of the entire lemon, not just the juice. The whole fruit is crushed, squeezed, milled, and blended thoroughly to create the puree base. This is then infused into a distilled sugarcane-based spirit. This gives it a more distinct, full lemon flavor.

This is all rooted in the Japanese spirit of Kodawari, the relentless, almost obsessive pursuit of perfection. Its makers have labored over the most minute details to ensure the superior quality of the finished product. It takes an entirely different level of commitment to come up with something this good! LEMON-DOU comes in three flavors—Signature Lemon, Honey Lemon, and Devil Lemon. As cliche as it sounds, there really is something for everyone of legal drinking age. The flagship variant, Signature Lemon, comes at 5% ABV, while the wickedly good Devil Lemon is a stronger 9% ABV. The Honey Lemon is milder at 3% ABV and it’s also sweeter than the rest of the bunch. But because all drinks were made the same way—with crushed whole lemons, infused in alcohol, and mixed with bubbles—they all have the same refreshing and full-bodied lemon flavor.
